Showing a different character, the 2006 Tilenus Pagos de Posada, pure Mencía from an extremely warm vintage, reached 15.5% alcohol. 15% of full clusters were used during the fermentation in oak vats, and the wine aged in French oak. It has some volatile notes and a nose denoting a very warm, ripe vintage with forest floor aromas, black olives and prunes. The palate is medium to full-bodied, it does not really show its 15.5% alcohol, which feels quite integrated, with even some elegance within its powerful, smoky personality. It is really ready to drink. It's a style from the past for fans of that ripe profile. 9,000 bottles were produced.
