The deep-colored 1990 Collegiata Tinto offers a complex nose of spicy, robust, peppery, black-cherry, and earthy scents. It is a full-bodied, chunky wine loaded with gutsy levels of fruit, glycerin, and soft tannin. Drink this lusty, mouthfilling, uncomplicated wine over the next 4-5 years. The wines of this bodega in Spain's Toro region have consistently made my "Best Buys" reports. I tasted the 1986 Black Label Gran Reserva, but I cannot recommend it because of the excessive oak that dominates the wine's personality. The Bodegas Farina is represented by numerous importers, including Europvin, USA, Watertown, MA.
