The 2008 Esencia de Fontana Seleccion is pure Tempranillo from 20+- year-old vines and sees 14 months in American oak. It has a muffled baked cherry, warm leather and molasses-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, leathery and dry black fruit and a conservative, quite dry finish. To be frank, this is expensive for what it is. Drink now.
