The saturated purple-colored 2005 Reserva is composed of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Tempranillo, and 15% Syrah aged for 14 months in French and American oak. It offers up a Bordeaux-like aromatic array of cedar, spice box, floral notes, black currant, and blackberry. Saturated purple in color, it offers up a brooding bouquet of toasty oak, tar, scorched earth, and assorted black fruits. Full-bodied, structured, and strapping, the wine is loaded but in need of 6-8 years of additional cellaring to lose some tannin. It has excellent balance so all that is required is patience.
