The 2009 Finca de los Vientos is made from Prieto Picudo, an indigenous grape planted at a high elevation of 2,400 feet. Somewhat of a “l(fā)ike it or leave it” effort that was aged completely in tank, it reveals a volcanic, earthy, almost fecal character, with nearly bizarre aromatics. While it may be controversial, I thought readers should have a chance to taste something from this particular grape.
These wines are made from one of Spain’s talented young viticulturists, Raul Perez, and winemaker Noelia de Paz.
