The 2010 Conde de Valdemar Garnacha seems quite dark-colored for a Garnacha, and needs some time to display its shy aromas of red fruits and flowers with perfectly integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate is very balanced with refreshing acidity, almost citric, velvety and very pleasant to drink. I remember they were making a varietal Garnacha many years ago when the grape was not fashionable, and they have stuck to their guns. Well done! Drink 2014-2017.
Bodegas Valdemar, which seemed very modern when created in 1985, has a wide portfolio of well-crafted, clean wines showing good typicity and balance as well as an interesting collection of varietals. They now produce two million bottles of very regular, crowd-pleasing wines.
