This 2022 FRNC was made with destemmed fruit from the Antonio Lamento vineyard, four acres of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon side by side ("like lungs," says winemaker Brad), planted in black cracking clay and surrounded by gums. Brambly and leafy on the nose, this has all the exoticism and crunchiness that I seek in Cabernet Franc (wherever it hails from). It is medium-bodied, floral, pretty and lithe, a pleasure. It matured in neutral oak. 12.9% alcohol, 180 cases, sealed under screw cap. (The drinking window here is conservative, but its freshness is its appeal for me—drink it sooner rather than later.)
