The 2006 Rosso Piceno Villa Bucci, 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese, is the estate's top red. Super-ripe dark cherries, menthol, tar, pine and spices take shape beautifully in the glass in this fleshy, opulent red. All of the elements meld together with unusual class and pedigree on the voluptuous, creamy finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.
Bucci is a reference point winery for the Marche. The Verdicchios in particular are standouts. While readers are likely to drink these wines pretty much upon release, they do have an ability to age gracefully.
