The Cantina Terlano 2020 Alto Adige Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth (with an ample 65,000 bottles made) is crisp in intensity and brilliant in appearance. The wine shows aromas of preserved lemon, apricot, almond and poached pear. The wine ferments in oak and undergoes a partial malolactic fermentation followed by 10 months' aging in both steel and oak. What I like about this Chardonnay is that it focuses on Dolomitic and mineral aromas more than oak or winemaking. This is a beautifully fresh and polished expression.

Here once again is a Cantina Terlano white that punches above its price in this edition of 65,000 bottles. Showing lots of rich, ripe apricot and melon fruit, the 2019 Alto Adige Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth gives you a solid 10-year drinking window. It shows a bright yellow-gold color with rich fruit tones and a medium-weight approach that leaves ample room for the finer mineral nuances and a very light touch of oak spice. Especially notable are the yellow fruit tones and the preserved lemon.

The 2018 Alto Adige Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth opens to a pretty medley of Meyer lemon and sweet almonds, with some distant cinnamon or vanilla spice at the back. There are tangy layers of rosemary or lavender essence and even a touch of savory laurel leaf. This cool-climate Chardonnay is rich, creamy and beautifully textured with soft and lasting intensity. This is a terrific medium-bodied choice for baked codfish or spicy chili crab. The wine's texture is enhanced by sur lie aging in both wooden barrel and stainless steel. Production is an ample 65,000 bottles.

Bright and shiny, the 2017 Alto Adige Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth is a medium-bodied wine with the heft and natural density to pair with white meat or lobster with melted butter. This silky expression produces rich aromas of lemon curd, baked apricot, toasted almond and fragrant passion fruit. It has a nice creamy texture that wraps thickly over the palate. Some 65,000 bottles were made.

The 2016 Alto Adige Terlano Chardonnay Kreuth is a wine that plays its best cards in terms of texture. This is a smooth, medium-bodied rendition with incredible smoothness and silkiness. It washes delicately over the palate. The wine imparts lasting flavors of apricot, peach, pine nut, sweet almond, pear and honey. The integration is seamless and impeccable. I'd easily assign this cool-vintage Chardonnay a 10-year drinking window. Some 65,000 bottles were made.
