The 2008 Chardonnay is clean and correct, but doesn’t offer quite the level of varietal character of the best wines. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Cantina di Terlano makes a wide range of wines that rarely disappoint. The estate’s 2007 Chardonnay offers a steely, taut expression of this variety, although it gains weight and volume in the glass. With air, more typical varietal notes come through, yet this remains a quintessential expression of Alto Adige minerality and terroir. It is a highly pleasurable wine. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010. Cantina di Terlano is one of my favorite sources for value-priced wines in Alto Adige. The winery was founded over 100 years ago.
