The 2011 ROSE is a low alcohol Touriga Nacional (12.5%), and it is pretty fine. Solid in the mid-palate for a pink, this has fine depth, persistent flavors and a crisp aftertaste. It is a bigger styled pink, more or less, not a blockbuster, perhaps, but not a white wine in disguise, either. It has beautiful finish, showing a little power and intensity, not too far divorced from a red in some respects. It is also delicious, overall a very nice performance from CARM. Drink now-2013. The 2010 Rose is all Touriga Nacional, vinified in the saignee method. Fruity and clean, it is aromatic and quite tasty, with just enough acidity bracing the fruit. The 2008 ROSE is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, coming in at 12.5% alcohol. This is a charming and easygoing pink, focused and elegant in the mid-palate, aromatic, dry, friendly and crisp. Its fruit is pure and flavorful. This will be just what a lot of rose fanciers want. It will be at its best this summer. Drink now-2011. CARM is one of the Douro’s under-the-radar producers, which is unfortunate since they always provide some bang for the buck. The ‘07s are nice examples of that. Note that I’ve dropped the parenthetical clarification I previously used for CARM’S producer name (explaining that CARM means Casa Agricola Roboredo Madeira).
