The 2020 Chianti Classico offers tart cherry on the one hand and crushed limestone on the other. Albeit informal and easy to drink, this wine delivers the goods. I like the freshness and those pretty aromas of crushed mint and blue flower. This is a massive 300,000-bottle production.

This winery sources its fruit from a vineyard almost entirely planted to Sangiovese with a smaller part Canaiolo in a complementary capacity. The Carpineto 2018 Chianti Classico opens to a medium garnet color and follows through with open and accessible aromas of dried cherry and plum. The aromatic effect is a little flat and lacking in brilliance, but the wine shoots for easy finger-food pairings and near-term drinking.
