This has been one of Carr’s more successful bottlings, and the ’08 is quite a good wine, although not quite up there with the ’05. It’s very deep in flavor, with lush, impressive notes of cherry pie filling with the smoky-sweet crust and masses of savory Indian spices. Considerably more balanced than Carr’s Clos Pepe bottling, this Pinot is very dry and filled with youthful acidity, but it shows the vintage’s heat in the intensely ripe stone fruit and berry flavors.
