This is one of my go-to bottles to drink throughout the summer months and beyond with any luck. A blend of 85% Biancolella and 15% Forastera, the Casa d'Ambra 2021 Ischia Biancolella shows a solid and mildly creamy mouthfeel with a beautiful combination of peaches and honey. It only sees stainless steel. The wine's texture is delicate but lasting. Even more impressive are the production numbers of 150,000 bottles made each year. That means this lovely wine should be easy to locate.

Oh, do I love this wine! The Casa d'Ambra 2019 Ischia Biancolella, with an ample 150,000 bottles made, stands clearly at the more affordable end of the estate's portfolio, but this wine is so incredibly charming and territory-driven nonetheless. The volcanic island of Ischia has hot springs that bubble up on the sandy beaches of the island, making for little jacuzzi-like pools with hot water as you swim in the cold seawater. Those volcanic implications deeply shape a wine like this, rendering a sense of sharpness and precision that comes thanks to these special growing conditions. Citrus and white peach notes dive into sea salt and ashy mineral. There is no better wine in the world for an epic plate of spaghetti alle vongole.

This is one of my favorite summer whites, and I admit to buying more than my share of the 2018 Ischia Biancolella to keep me going during my week-long summer holiday in Positano. This is the quintessential beach wine that tastes so delightfully fresh and radiant, especially when poured on a hot summer day with the sound of lapping Mediterranean waves in the background. The Biancolella grape is the perfect metaphor for sea-side pleasure. It offers pronounced saltiness with plenty of fresh citrus, peach and green melon. The results are beautifully polished and floral too.

The 2017 Ischia Biancolella is another excellent white wine for those of us who are passionate about Campania's indigenous grapes. This wine is 85% Biancolella with 15% Forastera. The bouquet here is bright and beautifully intense with white peach, preserved lemon, crushed oyster shell and pithy grapefruit. The wine spreads over the palate with a combination of sweet and salty flavors leaving the palate revived and refreshed. Some 150,000 bottles were made.

The 2015 Ischia Biancolella is absolutely gorgeous and packed tight with beautiful floral definition that reminds me of orange blossom, honey and salty sea breeze. The wine is absolutely linear and pure in terms of its zesty and linear delivery. That same precision applies to the palate where the wine shows medium build and a vibrant finish.
