The 2009 “PALHA CANAS” Branco is principally a blend of Arinto, Fernao Pires and Vital, with an unspecified “smaller proportion” of Chardonnay. Coming in at very modest prices, this is often a nice entry level wine if drunk and encountered young. Straightforward, it tends not to stay at peak long, but it can be a decent value choice. Bright and tasty, clean and crisp with lemon-y nuances, this is an elegant wine this year with some substance and nice intensity of flavor. It won’t last long at peak. Drink it this summer and sip it on the porch. Drink now-2011. Importers: Tri-Vin Imports, Mt.
