There’s much more to the 2012 Oda Blanc, which is produced with Chardonnay and Macabeo grapes fermented and aged in contact with the lees and with battonage in new American and French oak barrels. The fruit is above the oak aromas and manages to come through as fresh and spicy, with notes of apples, quince, roasted nuts and aniseed and a creamy palate, with good balance and freshness. This might not be terribly exciting, but it’s a very well-crafted white at a very good price. Drink now-2017.
