An IGT wine, the 2006 Totila is a blend of Nero di Troia and Cabernet Sauvignon. Long years of bottle aging have helped to unmask a good degree of inner complexity, but the bigger issue here is the jammy, somewhat heavy quality of fruit. Dried plums and prunes segue to sour cassis and sun-dried cranberry. Totila is vinous and rustic in personality. It feels close to the end of its drinking window.
