The 2006 Chakana Estate Selection is composed of 80% Malbec, 10% Syrah, and 10% Petit Verdot aged in barrique for 15 months. The nose exhibits elements of pain grille, pencil lead, black cherry, black berry, and plum. Firm on the palate, it has ample ripe fruit, a forward personality, and several years of aging potential. Drink this outstanding effort through 2018.
Chakana, a family owned winery, was founded in 2002 and the first vintage was 2003. Currently, 50,000 cases are produced, 98% of that exported. Their consultant is the well-regarded Alberto Antonini.
