As the name implies, the NV Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Vieilles Vignes is Chardonnay from 35-year-old vines in Massif St-Thierry. The wine presents gorgeous varietal fruit wrapped around an intense, mineral-driven core of fabulous depth. The focus and laser-like purity of the finish are remarkable. Crushed rocks, minerals and smoke add the final layers of nuance. This is a fabulous wine for the dinner table. This release of Blanc de Blancs Vieilles Vignes is based on 2007, with the addition of 30% reserve wines. This is Lot 01N. Disgorged June, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. This is a strong set of wines from Boulard. Although I tasted the Brut Nature (zero-dosage) versions, Boulard also bottles these wines in Extra Brut versions with 5 grams of dosage. I am told disgorgement dates will appear on back labels in the near future.Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334-8191
