Dark, dense and chewy, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Ethos Reserve displays a deep ruby core and is firm and dusty before offering up aromas of intense roasted red peppers. Medium to full-bodied, dusted red and purple flowers flow across the palate with elements of graphite and a firm tannic edge that will need additional time in a bottle yet will remain food-friendly for more than a decade. Be patient.

Notes of dark berry fruit and creamy new oak precede the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Ethos Reserve, a medium to full-bodied and somewhat drying wine built around astringent tannins that clamp down on the tongue and gums. This cuvée can be solid, but it's rather charmless this year.

One of the gems in the lineup is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Ethos Reserve, which incorporates 11% Merlot and 2% Syrah. It's fresh and elegant, with textbook Cabernet notes of cassis, graphite, crushed violets and spice. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and textured on the palate, it has sweet tannin and nicely integrated acidity. It, too, is going to keep for a decade or more.

One of the standouts in the lineup is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Ethos Reserve, which comes from a number of sites in the Columbia valley and incorporates 10% Merlot. Aged in 53% new French and American oak, this full-bodied, rich, unctuously textured and concentrated Cabernet is loaded with notions of currants, blueberries, smoked herbs, and licorice. Possessing low acidity, a plump, sexy profile and no hard edges, it can be enjoyed anytime over the coming decade.

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Ethos Reserve is elegant and polished, with beautiful and classy notes of cassis, black raspberries, spring flower and crushed violets. It’s medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with slightly more finesse and elegance than the Artist Series, but a similar level of depth and richness. It shows lots of minerality on the finish, has excellent balance and should evolve nicely for 15 years or more.
