A great value wine, the 2012 Chianti Rufina is an exremely elegant and integrated wine. The finish is fine, polished and elegant. Sangiovese is enhanced with 5% Colorino and aged in oak for 18 months. The wine is released four years after the harvest and shipments of this 2012 vintage are just hitting foreign markets now. Some 38,000 bottles are produced.

Executed in a streamlined and traditional style, the 2011 Chianti Rufina is a tonic and tight wine that would make a natural pairing partner to cheesy pasta dishes. Aromas include cassis, forest berry and toasted almond husk. The bright acidity of Sangiovese adds a touch of thorny sharpness to the close.
