A blend of equal parts Inzolia and Catarratto, the 2017 Salina Bianco offers a combination of sulfur and marine aromas that place you immediately on the island of Salina in the volcanic Aeolian Archipelago off the northern coast of Sicily. The soils are rich with magnesium and potassium. The wine is a little offbeat, a little strange, but it is worth remembering that it is also extremely reflective of its extreme growing environment. The wine finishes with a very salty note. It also reveals a sweet note of candied lemon that reminds you of the hot vintage. Some 15,000 bottles were made.
