The 2010 Pinot Bianco Weissburgunder Thurner is full of freshly cut flowers, white peaches and spices. The delineation of the aromas and flavors is very nicely done in this understated, medium-bodied wine. Clean veins of minerality lend an attractive energy to the finish. Nothing in particular stands out about the 2009 Pinot Bianco Weissburgunder Thurner other than the wine’s fabulous balance and sense of harmony, both remarkable at this price point. The Thurner is another gorgeous white ideally suited to near-term enjoyment. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013. The 2008 Weissburgunder Pinot Bianco Thurner is a beautifully balanced white. Nothing in particular stands out here, just the wine’s remarkable sense of harmony and proportion. It’s hard to imagine a more finessed, elegant Pinot Bianco for the money. Subtle notes of smoke and minerals linger on the refined finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Once again, I came away from my tastings deeply impressed with the wines of Colterenzio. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar these are some of the finest wines from Northern Italy.
