The 2006 Pinot Nero Villa Nigra reveals attractive varietal aromas and flavors in a mid-weight style. This is an approachable, friendly Pinot to enjoy over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Colterenzio makes a wide range of wines. This year I found the whites more interesting than the reds. Colterenzio’s 2005 Pinot Nero Villa Nigra Cornell is an elegant, refined wine with pretty red fruit and sweet toasted oak nuances. Although the wine possesses excellent length and harmony, I didn’t find as much varietal character as I had hoped. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.
