The 2010 Gewurztraminer is impeccable from start to finish. The brighter, more floral side of the grape is on display. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and light floral honey find an attractive counterpoint in the wine’s persistent minerality. The 2010 is full of flavor yet shows no heaviness whatsoever. The 2008 Gewurztraminer presents a beautiful, understated side of this grape. Gingerbread, spices, passion fruit and lime peel emerge as the wine opens up in the glass. There is terrific depth and a sheer purity to the fruit that invites another taste. Simply put, the 2008 Gewurztraminer is a great wine at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. The 2001 Gewurzraminer Cornell is potently varietal on the nose, very floral and tropical, and rather full on the palate as well, but a bit of bottle time should give the wine an elegance to match its undoubted power.
