The 2008 Gewurztraminer presents a beautiful, understated side of this grape. Gingerbread, spices, passion fruit and lime peel emerge as the wine opens up in the glass. There is terrific depth and a sheer purity to the fruit that invites another taste. Simply put, the 2008 Gewurztraminer is a great wine at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011.
Once again, I came away from my tastings deeply impressed with the wines of Colterenzio. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar these are some of the finest wines from Northern Italy.
