Marked by the 25% new oak barrels used in its elevage, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape à Aimé comes from mixed plantings around 80 years old. Notes of vanilla, toast and black cherries appear on the nose, while the palate is full-bodied, rich, lush and long, with a dry, cedary finish. It's a bit international in style—one could make the argument that similar wines can be produced from other warm-climate regions, but it delivers plenty of hedonistic value.
