Equal parts Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Vermentino, with the Grenache and Vermentino made in tank and the others in new oak, the 2018 Ventoux Blanc boasts effusive aromas of honeyed tangerine and pineapple, yet remains crisp and silky on the medium-bodied palate, finishing on zesty notes of grapefruit.

The 2001 Cotes du Ventoux basic cuvee is a blend of 60% Roussanne and 40% Clairette that sees some new oak. That component is totally hidden by abundant quantities of tropical fruit, buttered citrus, and honey notes. Lively and vibrant, with good acidity and plenty of flesh and fruit, it will offer immense pleasure over the next 12-18 months. My tasting notes on my visit with proprietor Sebastien Vincenti ended with the comment, "These wines are simply too good for their prices. The basic 2000 Cotes du Ventoux blanc, a blend of equal parts Clairette, Roussanne, and Grenache Blanc, exhibits fresh grapefruit-like characteristics, an elegant, medium-bodied character, and a lively personality. Domaine Fondreche's 1995 Blanc is a 40% Grenache, 30% Roussanne, and 30% Clairette blend that reveals plenty of honeyed fruit in a medium-bodied, crisp, refreshing style. The wine is not allowed to go through malolactic fermentation for fear of losing acidity, nor does it see any wood. The result is a wine emphasizing its fruity perfume and flavor.
