The Choblets’ 2005 Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu Clos de la Senaigerie – from mica-schiste soils – displays a saline, pungently nutty nose. In the mouth, this has a genuine schiste-licking mineral character, indeed a saturation of salt and stone that reminds me of a cross between a dry Mosel Riesling and a Chablis: not a bad thing at all! Peach pit, toasted, salted almond, iodine and wet stone cling almost indelibly, yet for all of its mineral emphasis this wine remains satisfyingly succulent as well as hugely refreshing.Imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Syosset, NY; tel.
