The 2019 Pinot Noir Louise is the 20th iteration of this cuvée, and it also happens to be one of the most stunning expressions I've tasted. Medium ruby-purple, it's intensely scented of blackberry jam, Earl Grey tea and licorice with tones of charcuterie, fragrant earth and blood orange. The palate is seamless and silky, with incredible power derived from the sheer concentration of fruit on offer, and it finishes with tremendous length and layering. This marriage of power and elegance will be very long lived in the cellar. 1999, the first version of this wine, was made up of just three barrels. This 2019 incorporates about 20 barrels, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find.
