The 2016 Pommard Villages was acutely affected by the frost this year with some parcels yielding diddly-squat. As such, there is a slight sense of hollowness on the nose—aromatics that feel distant and fleeting. The palate is better with rounded, slightly rustic black fruit, fine tannin and a finish that wants to compensate for the lack of aromatics. Maybe it was just closed down on the day, because the palate is showing well.

The 2015 Pommard Villages has bright red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet: not complex yet it comes across as "playful". The palate is full of crunchy red fruit, plenty of black pepper here with a well-structured, quite tensile finish. I find more breeding here than the Aloxe-Corton Village at the moment.

The 2014 Pommard Villages has an expressive bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, raspberry and a touch of pomegranate. The palate is crisp and lively with a fine line of acidity, quite precise with a touch of blood orange towards the saline finish. This is a great little Pommard - recommended.
