Coming from the upper plateau, the 2013 VDP des Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah Fleurs de Mai comes from a vineyard that was previously planted to peach trees (hence the name Flowers of May). Vinified all in wood and more serious than the Syrah de Mirbaudie, it gives up plenty of pepper, crushed rock, spice and smoked fruits to go with a medium-bodied, fresh, focused feel on the palate. It too is a juicy, delicious and quaffable effort to enjoy over the coming couple of years.
