The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape, a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, aged in a combination of tank and barrel, this wine offers delicious, ripe raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with Provencal herbs, lavender, and licorice. It is lush, medium-bodied, elegant, and very expansive and flavorful, and in that sense almost atypical of a 2008. Enjoy it over the next 6-7 years. This relatively small, 20-acre estate, with all its holdings in the eastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape in the direction of the town of Sorgues, and further north near Bedarrides, has produced a sleeper of the vintage. No known American importer.
