The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in a mixture of new and old French oak for 12 months. Showing some funk on the nose (although nowhere near as strong as with the Merlot), perhaps with some reductive traces, this has average mid-palate concentration, but a fair bit of intensity and a real backbone. It is a very precise wine that has flavorful fruit and is gracefully constructed in the mid-palate. Even with the funky notes, I warmed to this bright, intense wine as it aired out, but I could have done without the funk, which is regrettably there. It will no doubt, and with justification, turn some folks off of this otherwise well constructed wine. Drink now-2017. Importer: Athenee Importers & Distributors Ltd., Hempstead, NY; tel.
