The 2007 Syrah was aged for 12 months in French oak. Bright and elegant in the mid-palate, as the Hatzimichalis' reds reviewed this issue generally are, it packs some punch on the finish, with a burst of tannins. There is some flavorful fruit here and a caressing texture, making this rather charming and tasty, even as it demonstrates the ability to hold in the cellar for a reasonable time. The 2005 SYRAH is pleasant, a charming every day wine, with some of that Syrah earthiness on the nose, and a bright, sunny demeanor. There is not much mid-palate, but the wine is tasty and easy to drink. It is drinking nicely now, but will not improve. Drink now-2011.
