A wine that was introduced because of the greatness of 2007 is their 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Clos Jarette. A brilliant blend of 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 30% Mourvedre, its saturated purple color makes it the deepest colored of all these wines. Rich and dense, it displays deep blueberry and blackberry notes intermixed with hints of graphite, camphor, and tar, as well as oodles of pepper and incense, and a long, fleshy, full-bodied finish with moderately high but silky tannins. This wine is very promising but needs to be forgotten for at least 2-3 years and drunk over the following 15+ years. One of the most morsellated of all the Chateauneuf du Pape domaines (60+ parcels of vines spread out in every sector of the appellation), this is undoubtedly a very challenging estate to manage. The wine quality is excellent as evidenced by their strongest vintage to date, 2007. Only two 2008s were made.Various American importers, including Rhone Valley Importing, Wytheville, VA; tel.
