On the palate, the wine's charming, velvety attack soon segues into a firm, youthfully chewy palate that will require a little patience—Rapet's efforts to tame the appellation's distinctive tannins notwithstanding.

Aromas of earthy cassis and red berries mingle with hints of dried flowers, introducing the 2017 Aloxe-Corton Village, a medium-bodied, open-knit wine with comparatively supple tannins and a delicate core of juicy fruit. Rapet takes pains to tame the firm structure of Aloxe, and this will drink well in its youth.
