The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Clos du Roi wafts from the glass with notes of blackberries, cassis, spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's charming and fruit-driven, balanced by succulent acids. In contrast to the chunky Chorey, this will drink well young.

From a warm, early ripening climat that Rapet says has been adversely affected by a changing climate, the 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Clos du Roi bursts with expressive aromas of cassis, cherries and violets.
