The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges bursts with aromas of sweet red berries, spices, rose petals and a discreet framing of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with a generous core of fruit and powdery tannins that assert themselves on the chalky finish, it shows plenty of promise.

Cathiard's 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges exhibais aromas of sweet red berries, cassis, rich soil tones and smoked meats, followed by a medium to full-bodied, succulent and elegantly rendered palate that's deep and serious, concluding with a lively, mineral finish.

The 2015 Nuits St Georges, matured in 50% new oak, has an upfront and bold bouquet with raspberry coulis, crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas, quite Vosne-like in style. The palate has a little more structure than the Vosne-Romanée Village. There is impressive backbone in situ, slightly grainy in texture and with a mineral, limestone-tinged finish. Another very fine offering from Sebastien Cathiard.

The 2014 Nuits St Georges Villages comprises of just three barrels, two of them new in his vintage. It has a pure and fragrant bouquet: black cherries, a touch of cassis and violets, quite opulent considering this is a village cru. The palate is medium-bodied, creamy on the entry with layers of ripe cassis and black cherry fruit, nicely balanced with a surprisingly opulent finish. An NSG that's a cut above.
