This wine explodes on the palate with big berry fruit, peppery spices, chocolate-vanilla oak, and some warmth from the elevated alcohol level (labeled at 15.5%). This is a muscular, full-bodied, structured style of Zinfandel that should turn out to be well-balanced as well as impressively fruity and rich. The dense, saturated ruby/purple color is followed by reticent earthy, black-cherry aromas that emerge with airing. The wine offers excellent richness and concentration, plenty of spice, medium to full body, and no shortage of acidity or tannin.
