Enate’s 2004 Varietales is a blend of Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah aged in French oak for 15 months. It offers up a of underbrush, earth, floral notes, and assorted black and blue fruits. On the palate it comes off as a bit superficial with decent surface fruit but narrow and compact with a relatively short finish. There is nothing here to justify the asking price.
