The organic Enzo Boglietti 2018 Barolo Case Nere is delicate and fine with small-berry aromas, cassis, dried violet, blood orange and rusty nail. Fruit comes from La Morra, and you can anticipate softer tannins and a more open-knit mouthfeel as a result.

With fruit from La Morra, the Enzo Boglietti 2017 Barolo Case Nere is the most powerful of these five Barolo expressions from this same subzone and is the only wine that records a robust 15% alcohol content. The texture and the fruit fiber of the wine are bold enough to absorb the extra heat, and the wine comes off as open-knit and accessible. Of these new releases, I'd recommend this bottle for a medium-term drinking window. Some 2,400 bottles were made.

Subtle, yet pure notes of cherry, strawberry, rose, woodsy underbrush and tobacco highlight this complex red. It's firmly structured and vibrant, with a lingering aftertaste of berries, mineral and tobacco. The Case Nere site in La Morra sees a mix of silt and clays soil. One adds freshness and aromatic intensity and the other adds structure. The Enzo Boglietti 2016 Barolo Case Nere is a pristine and balanced expression of Nebbiolo with delicate fruit tones backed by tar, smoke and licorice. You also get some floral aromas that are not unusual in wines that come from La Morra. Production is very small with just 2,000 bottles released.
