The Eraldo Viberti 2017 Barolo is dark and thickly concentrated with baked cherry aromas and black plum. Nebbiolo has a special way of capturing the vintage heat, and it doesn't result in jammy aromas per se. Instead, the dry heat translates into a general lack of intensity and complexity. I think you can see some of that here, as the wine offers plenty of dark fruit, but it shows less nuance and depth at the end of the day.

The 2011 Barolo gives us fresh fruit and nice intensity. I'm pleased with the crispness and direct nature of this pretty Barolo.

The 2008 Barolo is an attractive, poised Barolo with good energy. Dark red cherries, flowers and spices inform the long finish. This is a well-balanced offering from Eraldo Viberti. The 2007 Barolo shows off gorgeous fleshiness in its sweet red fruit, crushed flowers and spices. This part of La Morra tends to yield slightly linear, lithe Baroli, but in 2007 the warmth of the vintage has given this entry-level Barolo an extra dimension of juiciness that is quite welcome. I especially like the persistence and energy of the finish. This is a stylish effort from Viberti. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. The 2006 Barolo shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and the feminine personality that is typical of the Barolos from La Morra’s Santa Maria district.
