The 2008 Shiraz has bright raspberry and cranberry fruit on the well-defined nose that exudes great youthful purity and zeal. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, exuberant red-berried fruit leading to a crisp, dark plum-tinged finish showing just a little heat on the aftertaste. Otherwise, this is very competent winemaking and a delicious Shiraz.Founded by Ernst and Gwenda Gouws in 2004, this Stellenbosch producer offers a commendable portfolio including some excellent whites. Unaware of the price at time of tasting, I was expecting them to come in around the $25 mark. So at almost half the price these represent great value.Importer: Bronco Wine Company VI III, Napa 877.411.
