Four months after the bottling, the 2022 Rheingau (Riesling) from Eva Fricke is still untamed on the intense and spicy/yeasty nose. Dense and mouthfilling yet still caged due to strong reduction, this wine needs a lot of patience. It is supple, structured and intense but still doesn't sing from the latest bottling in September 2023 (AP 26 23). The bottling from March 2023 (AP 01 23) is a slightly different cuvée and opens clear, bright, pure and intense on the floral-scented nose. It's not super dry but has savory acidity and some bitter phenolics. This is an authentic 2022 with fine, juicy salinity on the finish. 12% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.
