The 2001 Syrah Que Syrah Vineyard exhibits a personality not dissimilar from a moderately endowed French Crozes-Hermitage. Aromas of vegetation, currants, olives, and spice are followed by a medium-bodied, tangy, generally uninspiring Syrah with moderate fruit, good acidity, as well as an annoying herbaceous component in the flavors. The 2000 Syrah Que Syrah emerges from a vineyard planted at a 950 foot elevation above the fog line on the Sonoma Coast. It is reminiscent of an Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage. This dense ruby-colored Syrah offers aromas of dried Provencal herbs combined with creme de cassis, and tapenade. It is spicy, peppery, tangy, and tasty.
