The Fattoria del Cerro 2013 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a wine of hearty consistency and dark fruity ripeness. The aromas are delivered in a heavy and one-dimensional manner with blackberry marmalade, dusty mineral and powdered carob seed. This wine was in an awkward stage when I tasted it.

The 2011 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a very pretty wine with a great level of color saturation (it boasts a deep garnet-red color) and aromatic intensity. The wine is smooth and finely textured and its firm structure serves as a sounding board for red cherry, blackberry and toasted almond. The acidic delivery is also nicely integrated and very much appreciated especially in this hot vintage. The blend is 95% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) with smaller parts Colorino and Mammolo.
