The sensational 2005 Crozes-Hermitage Le Reverdy is, again, a Marsanne-dominated wine but with some Roussanne in the background. Aromas of quince jam, orange confit, and honeysuckle compete with stones and a steeliness in this full-bodied wine, which boasts terrific fruit intensity, underlying zesty acidity, and structure and depth. This is an amazing white Crozes-Hermitage to drink over the next 3-4 years.
Michel Chapoutier remains fully in charge of the wines of Ferraton, and that has meant additional emphasis on terroir, purity of fruit as well as earlier bottling to preserve the wine’s character. Like all of the Chapoutier wines, Chapoutier is adamant about farming vineyards biodynamically or, in the case of wines that are negociant blends, purchasing the wine from organic or biodynamically farmed estates.
