The 2003 Finca la Estacada Seleccion Varietal is a blend of 45% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah, and 5% Mazuelo aged for 18 months in French and American oak. Purple-colored, it presents an intriguing array of damp earth, soy, spice box, leather, red currant and blackberry aromas. With a rustic personality (perhaps due to the hot vintage), the wine offers ripe but chunky fruit, moderate tannin, and a slightly compact finish. Drink it over the next 4-6 years.Importer: Aurelio Cabestrero, Grapes of Spain, Lorton, VA; tel. 571.642.0343 fax 571.642.0505
