The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2021 Langhe Sauvignon Dives comes from a 1.5-hectare site with chalky, bluish marl Sant'Agata soils at 500 meters in elevation that reinforces freshness and fragrance in the grapes. It ferments in oak and ages on the lees until late June the following year. Obtaining correct fruit maturity is key because vintner Fabio Alessandria does not like excessively green or tropical tones. He seeks freshness and minerality over a lean but texturally interesting mouthfeel. The 2020 vintage saw hail in this site, and after this edition, Fabio Alessandria says he is especially excited about 2022. Production is 3,500 bottles.

The 2019 Langhe Sauvignon Dives is such a pretty and simple wine. It's also fun to drink in a carefree or purely convivial spirit on a hot summer afternoon with friends. You get plenty of varietal character with exotic passion fruit, citrus, quince and crushed oyster shell. There are hints of lemongrass or tomato leaf, but Sauvignon Blanc from Northern Italy is never too tangy or green in the way the grape can appear in the Southern Hemisphere. Fruit is drawn from less than one hectare planted in the Castagna vineyard of Verduno with marl calcareous clay soils with veins of chalk.

The 2018 Langhe Sauvignon Dives offers a textbook read of the grape with tropical fruit, lime and crushed stone. This is a pure and beautiful Sauvignon Blanc with pretty acidity, sour apple and perfumed fruit. There are no vegetal characteristics here. Piedmont is not known for this variety, but Comm. G.B. Burlotto does a fine job nonetheless. Some 4,000 bottles were produced.

The 2016 Langhe Sauvignon Dives is a bright and luminous white wine that benefits from the complex chalky soils found in the Verduno area of Piedmont. This wine is frank and horizontal in approach. It offers immediate aromas of exotic fruit and summer peach with a lot of salty minerality at the back. In the mouth, the wine shows a broad reach and medium structure.
