The saturated purple 2007 Geol is a blend of 41% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Garnacha, Marselan, and Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in French oak. It offers up a brooding, muted nose of cedar, black currant, licorice, and pencil lead. Straightforward on the palate, this structured effort has tasty black fruit flavors leading to a slightly compact finish. It remains to be seen whether additional bottle age will round it out.Importer: Eric Solomon, European Cellars, Charlotte, NC; tel. (704) 358-1565
