The saturated purple 2007 Geol is a blend of 41% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Garnacha, Marselan, and Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in French oak. It offers up a brooding, muted nose of cedar, black currant, licorice, and pencil lead. Straightforward on the palate, this structured effort has tasty black fruit flavors leading to a slightly compact finish. The 2006 Geol is 65% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Carinena aged for 10 months in French oak. Deep crimson-colored, it offers up a fragrant, Bordeaux-like nose of cedar, spice box, and black currants. This is followed by an elegant wine with serious flavor interest.
